As a Capture One user, I am disappointed that it does not support the Fujifilm GFX 50S raw files. In my previous posts (part1, part2, and part3) where I shared my search for an effective workflow for using the GFX with Capture One, I briefly touched on the usage of Iridient X-Transformer.Since then Iridient has updated X-Transformer to 1.0 beta 4, so I gave it another spin.

Iridient X-Transformer isn’t a full-blown raw processing package. What it does is de-mosaic the Fuji raw file and store it as a dng (Digital Negative) file. Once X-Transformer has produced the dng file you are free to import it into any raw processor you like which supports the dng format – for example Adobe Lightroom. In a very simple way, what Iridient X-Transformer does is, using the technology from the Iridient Developer, converts the RAF files to DNG. And almost the entire Internet knows that Iridient makes the demosaic of Fuji files like no other. Okay, but is it worth spending about $ 30 on this tool?
